Description: The Town Pier used to be directly behind the Port Melbourne Yacht Club. The first few piles can still be seen. The Town Pier was one of Melbourne's busiest piers early this century. It was later demolished, and only a few of the original piles can still be seen above the waterline behind the yacht club. The area is generally extremely silty, with lots of debris on the bottom amongst the mud and silt. It is possible to find a few nice old bottles etc in this area if you are into that sort of diving. Don't expect to see much else.
